Mangaluru, Dec 13: CCB police arrested two alleged cattle thieves in Ullal police station limits during nights and seized the car used for the same.
Earlier, a cow worth Rs ten thousand belonging to Balasamrakshana Kendra at Kuthar Padav, Munnur, Mangaluru was reportedly stolen between 8.30 am on August 8 and 5 am on August 9. A case of theft was registered in Ullal police station on the basis of complaint received from the supervisor of the Kendra and investigations were in progress.
CCB police who obtained information about the suspects of theft and peddling arrested them near Reliance Petrol Pump, Kuloor on December 12. Ahmed Kabir (29), son of Hasanabba, resident of Kabir Manzil, near Badriya Juma Masjid, Bengre, Mangaluru and Sahul Hameed (28), son of K Mohammed, residing near Ammemar school, Bantwal were arrested.
Police have seized white Maruti swift car used for the theft and Rs 6,300 in cash, together worth Rs 5,06,300 from the them.
Among the suspects, seven cases of cow thefts in Panambur, Bajpe, Karkala and Ullal police stations are pending against Ahmed Kabir. Eight cases of theft are pending against Sahul Hameed in Kadaba, Uppinangady, Bajpe, Karkala and Ullal police station limits.
The suspects and the seized items have been handed over to Ullal police station for further investigation.
The operation was conducted by CCB officer and staff under the guidance from DCP law and order Hanumantaraya and DCP Uma Prashanth under orders from police commissioner T R Suresh.
