Mangaluru: Musical fountain, laser show at Kadri Park set to open, CM to inaugurate

Mangaluru, Nov 12: The long-awaited musical fountain with laser show at Kadri Park is finally set to open for public.

The latest attraction in the largest lung space in the city will be inaugurated towards the end of this month by chief minister Siddarmaiah. The date of inauguration will be fixed depending on the CM's availability.

For now, the musical fountain with laser show is on trial rounds, which will continue till the formal inauguration. Every evening, the engineers concerned with project will run the shows from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm to detect any technical issues and ensure functional capacity.

The Rs 5-crore project has been completed by MUDA, and after the inauguration it will be handed over to the horticultural department.

The project was supposed to be inaugurated in June this year, but after inspection and trial shows, MLA J R Lobo expressed dissatisfaction in its standards, and directed the officials and the engineers to do some changes and make it more attractive. Now, with all the required changes done, complete with elaborate and creative laser displays specially depicting the local culture and specialities, the project is finally ready to roll.

As per MUDA officials, there is no entry or access to the public during the trial run. Public will be allowed only after the formal inauguration.

    There is no need for all this instead create some good tourist spots, make use of the coast. Foreign tourists will increase and good employment opportunities for the local population. There was no need of musical fountain and laser show, there is a need for better footpaths, some roads do not have footpaths and pedestrians find it difficult to walk on these roads and footpaths.
    What about the signals have been all removed except Lalbagh and PVS junctions signal do function. Finishing the Pumpwell junction and planning something for Nantoor for better and safe movement of traffic will be good.

    The same money could have been used to feed poor dalits and minorities. People are starving and no place to stay, they could have built some houses for them. Poor people are found sleeping around kadri park and starving. This is only for the rich people to enjoy a 5 crores worth fountain which will as usual stop working in next few months and will be closed for maintanence. Atleast the same money could have been used for Nanthoor and KPT junction redesigned in a safer way.

    Musical Fountain at Kadri Park is indeed a delightful sign for the progressive city of Mangalore. Music as well as the Fountain has a double benefit for the "City of Joy" that has now turned into a "Smart City" where the beautification of the City is very important for the people of Mangalore to be proud of.

    When the City is surrounded by colorful recreation spots as well as entertainments, it brings added attraction to the City and brings additional visitors to the City.

    Let Mangalore be attracted with more parks and recreation spots, and let there be more interest for tourists to visit our city and make use of our amenities and also spend money in our city. These are all added advantages for the welfare and progress of a City. The ultimate benefits are applicable to everybody.

    There will be more visitors to the City of Mangalore in long run. People go to Mysore and especially wait and watch the Musical Fountain. There will be more Tourists visit here and it will boost the Mangalore Economy.
