Mangaluru, Dec 10: Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) organized Christmas Day celebration here on Sunday, December 10 at Lions Club hall at Mallikatte.
Students of Jeevadhan invoked God's blessings through their dance performance. Principal of Lourdes Central School, Fr Robert D'Souza along with the committee members of KORWA inaugurated the Christmas celebration by lighting the Christmas tree and cutting the cake.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Robert D’Souza said, “I am privileged to take part in this beautiful programme where hundreds of children have gathered to celebrate Christmas. KORWA is spreading the message of Jesus of love and peace to the children. The activities organized by KORWA are people friendly and for the sake of needy and underprivileged children. May God always bless them.”
“KORWA has been striving hard for over the years to bring smiles on the faces of the underprivileged and needy children and spreading the message of love and care. This message should be implemented in our life to stay happy. Grab the opportunity which comes your way and contribute to the society and KORWA organization will be always behind you encouraging every step you take, let God bless all the children,” he added.
Meanwhile the founder president and former president of KORWA, Louis Lobo was felicitated for his contribution to build and strengthening KORWA under his leadership from the last six years.
Formal function was followed by dance performance by Prajna Preethi Sadana, De Mercy orphanage, Prajna Swadara Graha Kateel, Kowduru Kala Kendra, St Mary's orphanage, Vijetha residential School, Angela home Bejai, Prajna Bejai, Almirha and song was sung by Roney Crasta and Vijetha Special School.
Austin D'Souza Prabhu from Chicago and secretary of KORWA Flora Hislope were present among others.
President of KORWA Jessy Pinto welcomed the gathering, former vice president KORWA Elias Santis proposed vote of thanks. Rynel Sequeira compered the programme.
