Kasargod, Dec 7: Miscreants continued to hurl stones at transport buses here on the second day of the 25th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition. Buses came to a complete halt on Kasargod-Talapady and Kumble-Mulleriya routes condemning the incidents. There were less buses on Permude-Bandiyod and on other routes.
Stones were thrown on a bus at Hosabettu, Manjeshwar but passengers escaped unhurt. Miscreants also hurled stones on buses plying between Kumble and Belinga on Wednesday night. The glasses of the bus were shattered. Stones were pelted at Arial, Kasargod outskirts on a private bus on its way from Kasargod to Kumble on Thursday December 7. Driver Rukesh, a resident of Kumble sustained injuries due to broken glass.
Police who swung into action have arrested four people including two minor boys. The arrested have been identified as Inzamam (25) and Mohammed Ajmal (19), both residents of Kudlu. The other two are minors.
Private bus owners took to flash strike against repeated attacks on them. Students and passengers faced hardship, making them depend on private vehicles. More than ten buses and over fifteen other vehicles were targeted in stone-pelting during the last two days.
Maximum number of incidents has been registered in Kumble, Manjeshwar, Kasargod and Badiadka police station limits.
