Panaji, Dec 3 (TOI): The crime branch of the Goa Police have filed a chargesheet against four youth and a driver in the mysterious death of a Nagpur-based businessman's son, Harsaheb Baweja. The 24-year-old's decomposed body was found at Keri-Arambol plateau in December 2015.

Crime branch police inspector Vishwesh Karpe, told STOI that the chargesheet has been filed before the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) Pernem, under IPC sections 304-A (death due to negligence), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), and 177 (giving false information to police) read with 34 (common intention), against Nagpur residents Gaurang Jain, 19, Ayush Bharadwaj, 18, and Samarth Bajaj, 19; Ludhiana resident Rohan Gupta, 19; and Mumbai-based driver Vishal Zaverchand Savla, 33.

Baweja had arrived Goa with his friends on Christmas day in 2015. On December 28, the group had travelled to the sweet water lake at Arambol. However, one of Baweja's friends chose to stay in the car with the driver, while two others remained at the sweet water lake.

Baweja and another friend had gone up to the Keri-Arambol plateau. Police had said that the friend, noticing Baweja frothing at the mouth, had tried to revive him, but Baweja had collapsed.

The man's family, which owns a petroleum business, was not satisfied with the investigation by the Pernem police. Suspecting foul play, the family had approached the high court of Bombay at Goa seeking that the case be transferred either to the crime branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The state government had subsequently submitted in court that the case would be moved to the crime branch.

The case was transferred to the crime branch in August 2016, and is being monitored by the high court of Bombay at Goa.
