New Delhi, Nov 29 (IANS): As many as 19,732 projects as part of the village development plan under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) have been completed and another 7,204 were under implementation, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The objective of the preogramme is improving access to public services and community action for social and economic development in the selected gram panchayats so they become role models worth emulation by neighboring gram panchayats.
"An overall increase of 13- 19 per cent has been found in SAGY villages with regard to immunization, farmers with soil health cards, women brought into SHGs (self-help groups) and new Jan Dhan accounts," the statement said.
Every member of parliament is expected to develop three gram panchayats by March 2019.
Every SAGY gram panchayat has drawn up a village development plan, which is under implementation through convergence and additional prioritisation by Central and state governments, as per the statement.
"As many as 21 central schemes have already amended their guidelines or enabled priority for the SAGY gram panchayats," it said.
