Mumbai: Second year students yet to get hall tickets for Thursday exams

Mumbai, Nov 9 (TOI): Students who are taking the second year exam from Thursday are still awaiting their hall tickets from Mumbai University. Also, hall tickets, centre codes and seat numbers are yet to come in from Mumbai University for third year banking and finance exams, to commence from Friday.

Second year and third semester exams commence on Thursday, including Bachelors of Management Studies, Bachelors of Mass Media, BSc (Information Technology) and BSc (Computer Science) but thousands of students have not yet received hall tickets. Colleges like Khalsa have published hall tickets in-house for their students, as a backup plan.

"These are going to be our own students. So we have made hall tickets ourselves. It is a back-up plan in case the university does not send them in time," said principal Kiran Mangaonkar. Principals thought hall tickets would come in by Wednesday evening, but when they did not receive anything, many have decided to conduct the exam without hall tickets.

Podar college principal Shobhna Vasudevan said they would hold the exam based on student identity cards.

But that will not be possible for third year candidates who need to travel to other centres for exams. "We are yet to receive hall tickets for BAF students who are wondering what caused the delay. Final year students should not be put through such logistical anxiety and should be allowed to stay calm before the exam," said a principal.

Some students and principals feel the troubles have just begun. While the university authorities had promised a glitch-free exam season, principals had said that it was unlikely that this session will be smooth.

For third year students, centre codes had also not come in till Wednesday evening. "It is the callous attitude of the university that is putting students through stress a day before the exams," said a vice-principal.

Several attempts to reach the acting head of exams Arjun Ghatule were met with no response.
