Mangaluru, Oct 27: Tulu movie director Devadas Kapikad expressed sadness over the removal of Tulu movie 'Are Marler' from Prabhath theatre despite having good collection at the box office.
Addressing media here on Friday, October 27, Kapikad said, "We have presented a good movie with a budget of Rs 90 lac and released it in 11 centers. The shows came down drastically during the second week. The owner of Prabath theatre decided to replace the movie in its 7th week with Telugu movie ‘Spyder’. But we united together and managed to convince the owner and extended the stay of the film to 11 weeks.”
“But this time around, the owner of the theatre was adamant to remove ‘Are Marler’ giving renovation as a reason. I even visited the owner in Bengaluru to convince him. I had to beg with folded hands demanding to extend the stay of the film by at least 20 days, so that it can reach the milestone of 100 days. But he is adamant and has ordered the removal of the film from Prabhath theatre. 'Are Marler' is receiving good response from the audience. We are celebrating 100 days at Big Cinemas,” he added.
President Tulu Film Producers Association Rajesh Brahmavar, Sharmila D Kapikad, Jagannath Shetty Bala and others were present.
