Mumbai, Oct 20 (The Indian Express): The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under its ‘Ease of doing Business’ initiative will be issuing and renewing trade licences for businessmen through an online single window system. The businessmen now don’t need to go to their respective ward offices or the civic headquarters to obtain or renew their municipal trade licences.

“The forms can be filled by downloading it from the BMC website. And required documents can be scanned and attached to it before submitting the application. We have also given an option to make payment of fees for the service online. Hence, one can make the application and obtain and renew licences sitting at home,” said a BMC official.

There have been requests in the past to ease the procedure for obtaining licence and permissions, as one has to apply at various BMC departments. To secure a no objection certificate from each department, an applicant until now submitted separate forms. Applicants will also be issued and renewed trade licence online. Besides, the applicants will also be sent updates on the status of their applications through SMS and email.
