Panaji: CCP to probe birth certificate fraud

Panaji, Oct 18 (IANS): The Corporation of City Panaji (CCP) will conduct an inquiry into the case of a birth certificate fraudulently issued by the corporation around a week ago. The 1990 birth certificate was issued on payment of Rs 20,000 and without any documents being submitted as proof, mayor Surendra Furtado said. CCP commissioner Ajit Roy said the corporation will work together with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to find out whose computer system was used to log in and feed in the data. The working CCTVs in the office will also help narrow down the culprit, Roy said.
