Razer likely to launch its first smartphone on November 1

San Francisco, Oct 16 (IANS): After acquiring smartphone-maker Nextbit earlier this year, Razer -- the gaming laptop and peripheral company -- is slated to debut its first smartphone on November 1.

"The company has been teasing the announcement for a few weeks now and the device has also appeared on GFX Bench. Now, a picture shows that it appears to be a device very similar to the Nextbit Robin, but with a Razer logo on the back," Android Headlines reported late on Sunday.

The smartphone will focus on gaming and given the Nextbit acquisition it may feature some cloud-based infrastructure too.

The upcoming smartphone could feature a 5.7-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution, according to Geek.com.

The device is likely to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset which is the same CPU found in flagship Android smartphones and 8GB RAM, 12MP rear and 8MP front camera.

Nextbit, which was founded by former members of Google's Android team and a former head of design at HTC, was acquired by Razer for an undisclosed amount in January this year.
