Tokyo, Oct 16 (IANS): Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday tracking a solid lead from Wall Street late last week.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 93.01 points or 0.44 per cent from Friday to 21,248.19, Xinhua reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 9.06 points or 0.53 per cent to 1,717.68.
Insurance, mining, and oil and coal product-related issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
