Udupi, Jun 13: Accidents are a common occurence in the coastal part of the state and every day one hears reads of some or the other mishap. If some news items create sensation with pictures, others point out the pathetic state of the roads, careless driving etc.
And to show our concern as humans, we often regret the incident with an exclamation, 'oh this should not have happened!'
An incident which took place near Kaup has raised big questions on how certain people can go to any extent to earn money or take advantage of the situation, even if it happens to be a road accident.
A truck, carrying heavy steel-plates for Suzlon project in Padubidri from Andhra Pradesh overturned near Kaup.
Though the driver and the cleaner of the truck escaped without major injuries, the locals (not all of them) took instant advantage of the diesel that was leaking from the truck.
Moments after the news spread, a huge line was seen with bottles in hands to fill diesel from the truck!
Daijiworld Udupi reporter says that it was even more pathetic to see many trying to negotiate with other vehicle owners to sell the diesel they had managed to fill their bottles with!
Both the truck driver and the cleaner were in a state of shock as the truck turned turtle, but it was a festival of diesel for the locals.
We might be humans, but when will we ever learn to be humane?
