Bangalore, Jun 13: Three women, all in their early twenties —Nalini, Meghana and Pallavi — were arrested by the Chandra Layout police on charges of attempting to kill a housewife on Thursday. The trio has confessed to accepting supari to kill Anita, wife of Prakash Kumar (45), a real estate agent and resident of Adarsha Nagar nearVijayanagar.
According to police,Prakash reportedly approached Nalini and paid Rs 2 lakh to eliminate his wife.On Prakash’s instruction,on Wednesday, around 3:50 pm, the three women wearing burqas barged into the house armed with chilli powder and knives.
Nalini threw chilli powder in Anita’s face and attempted to stab her. Anita managed to push her away, while the other two tried to catch her but slipped and fell. Anita then ran out of the house, screaming for help. Within seconds, neighbours and passersby caught Nalini while the other two escaped.
Based on the information given by Nalini, the police traced Meghana and Pallavi. Interestingly, Prakash Kumar is still at large.
The police have collected evidence of Prakash’s conversation with Nalini, alerting her about his wife staying alone at home. Sources said the sisters, Nalini and Meghna, hail from Peenya while Pallavi is from Chikkabidarkal on Kanakapura Road. Three days back, Prakash had brought Nalini and another girl home introducing them as his relatives.
Complainant Anita has identified the women.
Later, police produced the three women in court and obtained two days’ police custody to find out whether they were involved in the murders of any other lonely women.
The trio was cool about the whole episode, talking freely to mediapersons. It was however, shocking to see escorting policemen lending cellphones to them.
