Udupi, Oct 11: Muhurat for the upcoming Kannada movie 'Anukta', produced under the banner of Deyi Productions was held on Wednesday, October 11, at Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple, Moodabettu here.
K M Ballali, president, Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple, Moodabettu, sounded the first clap, while Hemanth Nimbelkar, (IPS) IGP Western Range rolled the camera.
Vedamurthi Puttur Sri Hayavadana Tantri formally inaugurated the Muhurat by lighting the lamp along with other guests. Satish Shetty Pattla of Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation unveiled the title of the movie. Dr Ravindranatha Shetty, Ambadibettu presided over the programme.
Hayavadana Tantri, addressing the gathering, said that he was very curious about the concept of the film. He added, one could achieve greater heights with the blessings of God and wished the entire team great success after seeking God's blessings.
Kaup MLA and former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, "The temple has witnessed drama and Yakshagana earlier. Now, it has given a platform to cinema. Katapady has a good historical background. Udupi district is known for religious places. It is also known for its diverse culture, harmony. There are about 20% of NRIs living in the district. Udupi has enormous natural and human resource. The coastal districts have contributed star casts to Sandalwood and Bollywood. Artistes from the twin districts have played lead roles on small and big screens. I am confident that the film will achieve great success," said Sorake.
Film director Ashwath Samuel introduced the technical team and the star cast. He provided a brief plot summary of 'Anukta', an unusual thriller-suspense film, a new entry into the genre in Sandalwood. A scene will be shot at the 500-year old Pethri house, he said. Popular Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal will lend her voice to a song in the film. Lead actors Karthik Attavar and Sangeeta Bhat, Sampathraj, Anuprabhakar, Sidlingu, Usha Bhandary, Anil Ninasam, Roshan Shetty, Chidananda Poojary, Deepti Salian and others will act in the film. Samuel urged support from the audience.
