MUMBAI, Jun 12: Shiv Sena's mouthpiece "Saamana" on Thursday published a digitally-altered picture showing Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane wearing a saree.
That infuriated Congress workers who gathered outside Hindmata Theatre in Parel and burnt some copies of 'Saamana's edition with the photograph on front page. Police detained 26 of them.
In a lead story, the publication quoted Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh comparing Rane, who has been reportedly eyeing the CM's post in Maharashtra for some time, to a newly-wed daughter-in-law entering her new home.
Initially, the daughter-in-law gets frustrated as she does not know many people around but eventually settles down. Similarly, Deshmukh has been quoted as saying, Rane has also settled in Congress.
Former Sena leader Rane, who joined Congress in July 2005, has been repeatedly making trips to New Delhi to voice his grievances.
