Billionaire Mukesh Ambani richest Indian for the 10th consecutive year: Forbes

Mumbai, Oct 5 (IANS): Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has again topped the list of richest Indian for the 10th consecutive year, business magazine Forbes India said on Thursday.

Ambani, 60, who retains the top spot in the annual list of 100 richest Indian tycoons, saw his wealth increase to $38 billion from $22.7 billion last year, making him the biggest dollar gainer on the list and one of Asia's top five richest, the magazine said in a report.

RIL's share price has risen over the last year on the back of the company's improved refining margins, and the telecom unit Reliance Jio's massive success in notching up 130 million subscribers since its 2016 launch.

The list placed IT czar Azmi Premji, 72, of Wipro as the second-richest Indian with $19 billion net worth as his personal wealth rose by $4 billion due to its share price dropping,

"The gain is partly due to increased revenue and profit at his privately held consumer-goods business Wipro Enterprises, which makes everything from soaps to lightbulbs," the report said.

London-based Hinduja brothers, with a combined network of $18.4 billion in 2017, are third. They added $3.2 billion to their net worth.

According to the report, despite the country's economic hiccups, the combined net worth of India's 100 wealthiest stood at a whopping $479 billion, a rise of 26 per cent from $374 billion in 2016.

Naazneen Karmali, India Editor of Forbes Asia, said: "Despite India's economic slowdown, the country's 100 richest have collectively enjoyed a bumper year thanks to a buoyant stock market."

"While the Indian billionaire factory continued to churn out new names from diverse sectors, the price of entry rose to a record high. The top 100 club is getting more exclusive with each passing year."

The report observed that the 100 wealthiest on this year's list are all billionaires with the minimum amount required to make the list was $1.25 billion last year, 17 per cent lower than this year.

We read British looted, French looted, Moguls looted in history books. But reality is Indians looted Indians more than these all. Both Congress and BJP governments were in his pocket and its shame that we have to pay more than market rates for the Gas he supplies from KG basin. Actually Ambanis are the emperors of India . dictators

    Billionaire Mukesh Ambani richest Indian!
People over here, would be happy if he share his richness for making life better for fellow Mumbaikar's, people of Mumbai Suburban district by constructing Railway Road Over Bridges (ROB) at all level crossings and Foot Over Bridges (FOB's) where there are no ROB's.
This will ease flow of frequency of Trains, ease Railway commuters traffic and Road traffic as well, ease the life of commuting crowds.
ROB's are far better than FOB's. Crippled, aged and sick people also can use it.
Service to Nation and service to society is service to God. One has to to return a bit to the society what he has got from the society.
As per Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) if big giants helps the city, corporates will also benefit because peoples purchasing power will improve. That's how economy grow.

    People,

In 1968 TA Pai as chairman of Syndicate Bank gave a unsecured loan of Rs 4 Crore to Dhirubhai Ambani( Father of Mukesh and Anil) and at same time he gave Rs 2 Crore loan to Dr VS Acharya for building Underground Drainage system for Udupi, which was a secured loan...

Now his son Mukesh worth $38 billion ....and one of the richest person in the world...( Tump is woth only $ 10 Million!!!)...

Before a decade prior to that Dhirubhai Ambani was a Gas station ( Petrol Pump) attendant in Yemen ....very well... Capitalism working well...

There is lot of contribution of politicians for this miracle...Starting from Indira Gandhi to Modiji...in between please don't forget our own Karkala Vidhwaan...Who wanted to double the price of Gas, when he was Oil Minister which resulted in loss to the Union Government to the tune of Rs 186,000 Crore...and profit of same amount to Mukesh Ambani...and co-accused with Ambani in infamous Gas Scam...

Knowing Moily personally well, I think there should be at least a dozen Vidhawaans who made Ambanis from being attendant of Petrol Bunk to one of the richest industrialist in the world...

I bow my head to Vidhwaan Moily and his creations like Ambani/Adani...also wisdom of Daijiworld readers who support such persons...starting from my dear friend Sir Jossey...

    Long live Democracy of India...
