Doha, Sep 13: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), the premier forum which unites Mangaloreans living in Qatar has kept the Mangalorean culture alive in Qatar by celebrating Monthi Fest – the family festival for the past 25 years.
MCC has continued over all these years preserving and nourishing the rich Konkani culture in the distant country uniting all Mangaloreans in Qatar by celebrating feast of Nativity every year with the sharing of new corns, the first fruits of the nature through annual ‘Novem Jevann’.
MCC will be celebrating Monthi feston Friday, September 15, 2017 at 5.30 pm sharp at the multi-purpose recreation hall, West End Park Stadium, near Grand Mall, Asian Town. The highlight of the evening will be the sharing of the blessed corn ‘Novem’ and partaking in the home-cooked meal, as a family.
Stanley T H Fernandes fondly known as ‘Dattu’, past president of Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP), Oman will grace the event as chief guest. He is an ardent Konkani lover and community leader, also recipient of hall of fame award bestowed by MCCP on behalf of Mangaloreans residing in Oman and ‘Muscat Konkan Rathan’ title during MCCP's 25th silver jubilee celebrations held in February 2017.
In addition, MCC will also be felicitating outstanding Mangalorean students who have excelled in academics and Sports in 2016-2017 and Kho-Kho Champions for consecutive 3 years of ICC organized National Sports Day.
MCC has always given a platform for budding artists to showcase their various talents and rising to the occasion, MCC’s own talented members will present variety of cultural programs with songs, dances, skit, jokes, and spot games and entertain the gathering through the evening.
MCC extends the invitation to all Mangaloreans in Qatar to join the Monthi Fest celebration as one family.
