Rs 15.28 lakh cr of banned Rs 15.44 lakh cr returned to system, says RBI

Mumbai, Aug 30 (Agencies): All but 1.4 per cent of the old Rs 1,000 notes have come back into the banking system post demonetisation, the Reserve Bank said today.

In its annual report for 2016-17, the RBI said that out of 632.6 crore pieces of Rs 1,000 currency notes in circulation, 8.9 crore have not been returned post the note ban last November.

The government had on November 8, banned old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in an attempt to weed out black money in the country. The old notes were allowed to be deposited in banks, with unusual deposits coming under income tax scrutiny.

Revealing the low efficacy of last November's demonetisation of high-value currency, the RBI said that of the Rs 15.44 lakh crore of notes taken out of circulation, Rs 15.28 lakh crore had returned to the system by way of deposits by the public.

The government replaced old Rs 500 notes with new ones, but no replacement for Rs 1000 notes has been made. Instead, a new Rs 2,000 note was introduced post note ban.

RBI said there were as many 588.2 crore of Rs 500 notes, both old and new in circulation as of March 31, 2017. As of March 31, 2016, there were 1,570.7 crore Rs 500 notes in circulation.

The report further said that the cost of printing of currency notes more than doubled to Rs 7,965 crore in 2016-17 from Rs 3,421 crore in the previous year on account of new currency printing.

Besides, new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes, the RBI has also printed new Rs 200 notes.

Now when it is the time to answer the country for 104 deaths caused due to demonetization, Mr. Modi will run to China to attend BRICS Summit as if he is not answerable to anyone.

I wonder what is the use of Foreign Affairs Ministry when Mr. Modi has to handle all Foreign affairs.

At last today RBI has admitted that 99 percent of demonetized cash is back in the system. A big tight slap for Modi government who went after the poor and middle class ordinary citizens in the name of attacking black money but ended up harassing us where some even died and asking us to bear the pain in the name of 'desh bhakti' while his ministers sat in AC rooms and travelled in AC cars and made fun of Rahul Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Besides demonetization blunder, because of Jan Dhan Yojana, an another scheme of Mr. Modi, banks were compelled to put various charges (ATM withdrawal charges, minimum balance related charges etc...) on common man.

There are lakhs of Jan Dhan accounts with no balance and bank employees were forced to put some amount in these accounts so as to keep the accounts active ( Modi Government had set a target to these banks to open a specific number of such accounts).

Banks are so suffering from huge amounts of NPA (Non performing assets) largely as a result of waiving off of loans provided to Billionare Industrialists.

16,000 crores gained as black money and 21,000 represent to print new notes.

And chaiwala is making fun of Harvard university scholar (Amartya Sen) when the latter had criticized the demonetisation.

This also unmasks the appeasing Bhakth media houses which praised the act of demonetization and portrayed it as a major reform.

Even the Bhakth movie actors all of a sudden became Economists and spent hours praising chaiwala

Below are key questions on demonetisation, most of which have gone unanswered so far:
1: Who decided to ban currency notes? RBI or the government?
2: Were the views of Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramaniam and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley were taken before demonetisation announcement?
3: How much was the inventory of new 2,000 and 500 rupee notes with the RBI on the day demonetisation was announced?
4: What did the the Cabinet note that was approved by the Union Cabinet on demonetisation contain?
5: When was the proposal to issue new notes of Rs 2,000 denomination approved?
6: Did the then Governor Raghuram Rajan write to the government against withdrawing Rs 500 notes in 2016 before his term ended in September 2016?
7: How many meetings were held to plan the demonetisation drive, what happened during them and who all attended them?
8.How much of it is really coming from across the border? And is Pakistan the only country which is a haven for such nefarious activities?
9.Demonetisation has actually got coupled with the introduction of a new note of Rs 2,000. Why is the focus only on demonetisation in this case?
10.Keeping all these developments in the background, what should one make of the government's fairy tale idea of Indian economy moving toward a cashless economy?
11.When the black money gets pushed into Hawala transactions and come back in the form of participatory notes, only to effortlessly become a part of the stock exchange, how is it curbing black money?
The recent demonetisation has penalised virtually the entire informal sector, which accounts for about 45% of the GDP and nearly 80% of employment, while doing nothing to curb either corruption or tax evasion.
The way Prime Minister Modi pushed through demonetisation and the chaos that followed expose a key weakness the country’s hallowed central bank has no real autonomy.
If 0.16% of the currency unaccounted, it means our system is clean of black money or black became white?
    Jai Hind

Total failure of the Chaaiwaala Government in the Central.

99% of the demonetised 1000 and 500 notes were back to RBI.
Only 1% is not returned back which means:

========= THE DEMONETISATION WAS A TOTAL FLOP, A TOTAL FAILURE =========

    RBI gained 160 billion rupees

However the RBI lost 210 billion in printing new notes.

Now the bhakts should know how the banks were getting loss.

THE CHAAIWAALA PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE TO THE TAX PAYERS.

Simple equation of demo. Divide 21000 crore by 125crore Indian equals to 168rs per Indian . That's the black money per person. I am sure most of us retained a 1000 or 500 rs note to show ur future generation . Black money that Govt found is just 168 Rs per person. Now Bhakts have to burry their heads in sand. World will laugh at us! Thanks to Modi next time you open your mouth about demonitization it will be a laughing stock situation!

So many deaths and so many permanent loss of jobs and drastic drop in GDP and miserable life for so many days-Only for 16,000 crore in national level. Its a crime.

This much of revenue is collected by the government only WITHIN A MONTH from TAXES for petrol and diesel. For this small amount Mr. Modi made miserable the life of citizens.
