USA: Dr Austin Prabhu Receives 5 Diamond MJF

Chicago, May 22: Lions of Illinois held their 88th Annual Multiple District-1 Convention at the Westin Chicago Northwest Hotel, Itasca last weekend.  More than 600 lion leaders from all 12 sub districts of Illinois were in attendance.  Lions Clubs International Vice President Albert F Brandel from Melville, New York with his wife Dr Maureen Murphy were the honored guests for the weekend celebrations.

Convention highlights were golf outing on Thursday, plenary session and hospitality rooms on Friday, seminars, second plenary session, state banquet on Saturday and Lions of Illinois Foundation breakfast on Sunday.
 
During Saturday banquet many district leaders were awarded by their perspective governors.  State MERLOW coordinator and Sector Coordinator Dr Austin Prabhu was awarded with a 5 diamond progressive Melvin Jones Fellow pin by International Vice President Albert F Brandel.  He thanked Dr Austin for his dedication and hard work in promoting Campaign Sight First II in Illinois and congratulated him for this award.

    I am extremely happy to find that Dr. Austin Prabhu has been honored with the prestigious 5 DIOMOND MJF PIN. Austin is very well known to me. An outspoken and bold speaker who does not believe in mincing words. As a PEOPLE'S MAN he has done a lot of work in Mangalore during his younger days and even led a March to the Main Maidan to voice the feelings of the community regarding injustice and his work was very much appreciated by the late Bishop Basil D'Souza.
