Mumbai, May 21: This man took a 50-ft fall off JJ flyover, landed on a pavement, and had an iron rod pierced through his body. Believe it or not, he survived
The family members and friends of Mayuresh Pokhrankar (28) can’t stop thanking God for saving him after he was thrown off his motorcycle by a speeding car at JJ flyover last night. The car knocked him over, and he fell 50 ft down from the flyover on to a makeshift stall on the pavement, where his fall was broken by an iron rod that pierced through his body. Mayuresh was rushed to JJ Hospital, and after a life-saving operation his condition is stable.
At around 9 pm Mayuresh was riding back home towards Chembur when an unidentified car hit his bike from behind.
According to Sajid Latif (34), an eyewitness who then rushed Mayuresh to hospital, blood was gushing out of his body and the pain was unbearable for Mayuresh.
“When we rushed him to the hospital he told the doctors to give him some injection and kill him as he could not bear the pain of the iron rod,” said Latif.
After being operated upon, Mayuresh was said to be stable. “We have removed the rod and there is nothing to worry. As the rod went through the shoulder, there were not many complications,” said a senior doctor on condition of anonymity.
Family relieved
According to Anant Pokhrankar, Mayuresh’s father, he was a cricketer and represented Standard Chartered and other companies in the past. “He recently joined an insurance company as a manager and plays cricket for them too,” said Anant.
Mayuresh has sustained injuries on his head, thighs and shoulders.
