Dubai, Aug 5: Continuing its campaign to solve and prevent crime in the shortest span of time, Dubai police recently managed to nab suspects in 20 minutes flat. Acting on a complaint, the law-enforcement personnel identified and arrested several suspects who were about 10 minutes away from the scene of crime.
According to assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai police Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, the Dubai police officers prioritize time as a major factor for any cases they handle. The Dubai police follow an accurate mechanism of evaluation. An electronic criminal record system allows monitoring and re-analysing of the reports which helps in dealing with other crimes cases as well.
Crime files are never closed without identifying perpetrators or taking legal action against them. A lot of ground work is put in to arrest perpetrators involved in murder crimes either inside or outside the country. Many are arrested when they try to re-enter the country, he adds.
As per the Violent Crime Index which measures the decrease in crimes, UAE topped the list of countries in the Middle East and North Africa, and ranked 33rd worldwide in the rule of law index, a part of the International Justice project for 2016, he reveals.
"There are no unsolved cases of rape and kidnapping, as the rate of the unproven crimes fell from eight cases in 2015 to six in 2016," says Lieutenant-Colonel Adil Al Jokar, director of the department of criminal research at the Criminal Investigation Department.
The 2016 statistics of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) revealed that 86.5 per cent of people in the UAE are satisfied with their security during the day and 84.5 per cent are satisfied with their security at night times.
