Puttur, Jul 20: Two employees in the department of cooperation were trapped by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on the evening of Wednesday, July 19. They reportedly were nabbed when accepting bribe for registering a new cooperative society.
Assistant registrar of cooperatives in the town, Manjunath, and driver, Radhakrishna, were arrested when accepting bribe of Rs 25,000 for registering a new cooperative society.
A person from Padnur in the outskirts of the town had put through certain activities in preparation for forming of a new cooperative society. It is said that the officials demanded payment of Rs 25,000 bribe for registering the society. The concerned had informed ACB about this demand.
As decided in advance, officials of ACB raided the spot when cash was being handed over to assistant registrar of cooperative societies, Manjunath, and took the official into custody. When the money was being given, Manjunath asked the same to be handed over to his driver, Radhakrishna. The money was given to driver. When the driver was giving this money to Manjunath, inspector of ACB, Yogeesh, and other personnel conducted the raid.
