Mangaluru, Jul 19: Leader of the opposition in Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Ganesh Hosabettu on Wednesday, July 19 alleged that MLA J R Lobo misguided the state government regarding the renaming of St Aloysius college Road as Mulky Sundaram Shetty Road.

Addressing mediapersons he said, "The decision of renaming the road was taken unanimously in 2015. MCC had given a time period of 30 days for public to submit their objections. No one responded for the same. But now, a day before the renaming of the road, MLA J R Lobo brought a stay order from the government. It is condemnable and against public interest.

"J R Lobo is playing politics in silly matters. He misguided the government and informed that the renaming of the road would lead to disruption of peace in the district. Based on his report, the state government issued the stay order. In 2015, the police commissionerate submitted report to MCC stating that the change in the name of the road would not lead to any problem in the district. We cannot understand how the MLA thought so," he added.

"J R Lobo is not interested in the development works of his constituency. He has spent only Rs 100 crore in his constituency for development. As a developing area, this amount is very less. He not yet taken any steps to construct a good bus terminal at State Bank. So, he should concentrate more in development and not in communal and one way politics," he concluded.

    Mr Ganesh Hosabettu, please please do not drag Mr. J. R. Lobo in this dirty politics. He is doing excellent work. We met him recently in Dubai and were awed what a mega plan he has for Mangalore.

    We certainly would love to see him win again. In this corrupt political world we must at least give a chance to those who are sincere and honest.

    I am wondering, how come a Mulki person is right in front of St. Aloysius College? Any lay person can understand, it is Aloysius College surroundings and the road rightly to be renamed as St. Aloysius Road. With regard to respectable J.R. Lobo, he is not a person, he is an institution ; he is hero of all MLAs., who is the only MLA amoung the few MLAs, who are being working for the people without any bribe, without any gift, without anything inturn....

    Actually it is this fascist, casteist and communal BJP which is playing communal politics for which they are very well known. They are the ones who drag religion into politics by blowing non issues out of proportion and polarise the society by making hate speeches, thereby whipping passions and set up one community against another for reaping narrow electoral gains. They are not at all concerned about the welfare of the nation and the only objective is to win elections by hook or by crook at the cost of the unity and integrity of the nation. The enlightened electorate of our city are mature enough to see through their evil designs and reject them totally before the society is torn apart by these forces.

    Many of you perhaps are not aware of the history, while St. Aloysius College Existed from a century back, Jyothi talkies was there even before Vijaya Bank. A prominent Dr. Mrs. Saldanah's Clinic too was there before Vijaya Bank building was put up. We know the place from back to front Sir. So why Vijaya Bank founder name. Perhaps the College & Clinic have done more better philanthropic jobs than the Bank.

    Besides, was any of the past MLA's so efficient that city of Mangalore was transformed into heavenly place?

    According to Hosabettu, Yeddy government transformed Karnataka into Heaven. It is very clear that it is not Mr. Lobo playing politics, but, Hosabettu and his team working the dirtiest politics. Mr. Lobo is doing a wonderful job without any publicity.

    Mr. Hosabettu! You're a disgrace to the city. First explain to us what is the need to change the name
    of a street - that's named years (before you're borne) ago.
    What developmental value does this name change bring it to the city?
    You claim Mr. Lobo is playing politics? You have recklessly decided to change the name of a street for
    no reason but to earn a favor from Bunt community - find other ways (such as clean their homes and
    bathrooms)

    Mr. Ganesh Hosabettu your BJP MLA Mr. N.Yogish Bhat won MLA election from Mangalore 4 times, 1994,1999,2004 and 2008. 20 years his contribution to develop to Mangalore nothing. Mr. J.R.Lobo is best MLA. he is not playing politics, you BJP people are playing politics name of street. Bavota Gudde street is better.

    Dear Sir ,

    We dont understand why you guys are giving a political colour to this issue. However regards to Mr J R Lobos work in mangalore there is no doubt that he has been a very productive MLA for mangalore so far .He is far better than earlier MLAs . We wish him good luck we need such disciplined public servants for mangalore ,not any business persons . We need man who can serve poor not to serve his family...We should be proud of our present MLA.
