Puttur, Jul 18: A forest guard was caught red-handed by a team of Anti Corruption Bureau officials led by superintendent of police, Shruti, when accepting bribe. Reportedly, the forest guard had demanded for payment of bribe to allow transportation of timber.
Ibrahim from the town had obtained licence from forest department to transport wooden logs, after submitting all the required documents to the forest department. It is said that a forest guard named Kyatalingaiah contacted Ibrahim and sought bribe of Rs 1,500 to allow him to carry the logs. Ibrahim complained to ACB officials at Mangaluru about this demand. When the forest guard was accepting the bribe near Koltige, officials raided the spot and took Kyataligaiah into custody.
The ACB team comprising deputy superintendent of police, Sudheer Hegde, inspector, Yogeesh Kumar and others was led by superintendent of police, Shruti.
