Mangaluru, Jul 16: Debutant director Raj B Shetty’s ‘Ondhu Motteya Kathe’ is running to packed houses from the time it has released. The film has turned out to be a dream debut for Shetty, grabbing attention of cinema enthusiasts. The Kannada film has received heaps of praise from audience all over Karnataka and abroad.
An elated Raj B Shetty addressing mediapersons here on Saturday, July 15 said, “We are overwhelmed with the response from the audience. Credit goes to the entire team of ‘Ondhu Motteya Kathe’. I had worked for nearly two years on the script of the movie. My initial plan was to make a short film, but then changed my plans due to the support of my friends. The concept struck me during my twenties and it haunts you a lot if you have a bald head.”
“We have worked hard to produce a good movie. For this purpose, we had conducted workshops for all the actors on the scripts and dialogues. It was a low budget movie comprising a small team. It was not a star studded team as everyone was new. We worked hard on perfection and quality. People are loving the film,” he added.
“The movie has also released in Belagavi and Shivamogga. There were houseful shows in Mandya and Hubballi. The number of shows are increasing in theatres. We are being approached by Telugu, Marathi, Hindi and Malayalam filmmakers for the remake rights. The producers have to decide on that,” concluded Shetty.
‘Ondhu Motteya Kathe’ is produced by Pawan Kumar who is known for directing Lucia and U-Turn.
‘Ondhu Motteya Kathe’ which has already released in Germany, will release in the USA on July 27. ‘Ondhu Motteya Kathe’ was the lone Sandalwood film which made to New York film festival and Bagri Foundation film festival this year which was held on June 24 and 25.
Film producer Suhan Prasad, actress Shailashree, Shreya Anchan, Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association president Jagannatha Shetty Bala and Press Club secretary Shrinivas Indaje were present at the media addressal.
