Bengaluru, Jul 14: In view of the election to the post of the President of India, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has convened a special meeting of the ruling Congress Legislature Party in the conference hall of the Vidhana Soudha on July 17.
All the Congress legislators would be issued a whip to cast their votes for UPA candidate Meira Kumar, former Speaker of the Lok Sabha, on Monday.
The ruling NDA government has fielded former Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind.
The CLP is also expected to discuss various issues, including law and order problem in Dakshina Kannada and alleged bribery charges against senior IPS officers posted to Prisons Department.
