Mumbai, Jul 24: The All India Bakchod (AIB) gang has embroiled in yet another controversy and this time for poking fun at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. An FIR has been filed against AIB’s Co-Founder Tanmay Bhat for “insulting” the Prime Minister through a tweet posted on AIB’s official Twitter handle.
On Thursday, an image of PM Modi’s lookalike at a railway station along with a photo of the Prime Minister with a Snapchat dog filter was posted. The picture which was captioned #wanderlust adding "Dog filter is lyf."(sic) did not go well with Modi’s fans, creating an instant outrage.
One twitter user Reetesh Maheshwari tagged the Mumbai Police, demanding that action should be taken against AIB for posting 'disrespectful' joke against the Prime Minister.
The Mumbai Police forwarded the complaint to Cyber Cell and an FIR has been registered on Friday under section 500 (defamation) of IPC and 67 IT act (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form).
Though the tweet was deleted, AIB is being trolled by some users for being ‘scared’ of the BJP.
All India Backchod was founded in 2013 by Tanmay Bhat, Rohan Joshi, Ashish Sakhya and Gursimran Khamba. Though their humour is well received, they often trigger controversies.
In May 2016, Tanmay Bhat received immense flak for posting a Facebook video called 'Sachin vs Lata Civil War'. He superimposed faces of ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and musical legend Lata Mangeshkar to enact an argument on whether Virat Kohli is better than the Master Blaster.
In 2015, they came up with ‘AIB Roast’ which was criticized for the use of expletive-laden language at a public event.
