Mangaluru: Public Seminar on 'GST in Healthcare, Education and Family Economics' held

Mangaluru, Jul 14: Center for Health and Development (CHD Group) and Milagres Education Institutions organized a Public Seminar on 'GST in Healthcare, Educational Institutions and Family Economics' on Thursday, July 13 at Milagres Jubilee Hall.

Vijayakumar Bhathad, assistant commissioner of Commercial Taxes - Enforcement, spoke about how the previous taxation systems were and how central and state taxes were different and why the present C-GST and S-GST came into existence. He explained in depth about how different popular governments in the past were responsible to bringing this reform and how more than 166 countries have a unified policy on GST. He went on to say that the country’s market will get unified over time and although the transition may be difficult, it will have a long term boost and consistency in the country’s economy and taxation policy.


    
















Raghavendra Teertha, chartered accountant, highlighted the sector specific implications on what changes would come into being with the implementation of GST for healthcare, education and family economics. How the current family monthly budget would need to be re-worked and what was the mathematics necessary to understand the same was discussed.

Dr R P Pai, medical superintendent, ALN Raod Memorial Ayurvedic Medical College, Koppa along with a delegation came from Koppa in Chikkamagaluru district to understand the implications on ayurveda, health systems and GST.

Earlier, Edmond Fernandes, founder and CEO, Center for Health and Development (CHD Group) welcomed the gathering. Diya D’cunha from St Agnes College compered the programme.

Fr Valerian D'Souza, correspondent, Milagres Education Institutions; Gilbert Dsouza, president, Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and others were also present.

The event was held in partnership with Unity Hospital, Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Rahul Advertisers.
