Kasargod, Jul 12: The car belonging to advocate, K Srikanth, who happens to be the district president of BJP, was intercepted late night on Monday July 10 by a gang of masked men at Kattekkad, Melparamba on the state highway between the town and Kanhangad. The intentions of the gang were not known but the way in which they stopped the car and checked the people inside has given rise to apprehension about their motive.
Srikanth and former district BJP president, P Suresh Kumar Shetty, had taken part in a party programme at Nileshwar on Monday evening. On his return, Srikanth had got down at Trikkannad. Suresh Shetty was being taken to Kasargod in a car by BJP Yuva Morcha Mandal Samiti president, Pradeep, when a gang of masked people stopped the car at Udupma Kattekkal. The gang forced the doors of the car open and checked who were inside it. On finding that there was no one else other than Suresh Kumar Shetty, the gang went away, Pradeep stated.
