Kasargod, Jul 12: A lady from the district has left her home without informing her family in advance, leaving behind a 15-page letter in which she has explained her desire to convert into Islam and study that religion. The woman in question happens to be Athira (23), resident of Karippodi Kaniyambady in Uduma, which falls under the limits of Bekal police station.
Athira had left home on Monday July 10 morning, telling her family that she was leaving for a hospital. She did not return thereafter. In between, she called her maternal uncle over cellphone to tell him that she was not finding peace at her home and therefore had deserted her family. She thereafter abruptly cut the call, refusing to take calls made to her thereafter.
The family members who checked Athira's belongings in her room found a 15-page letter in which she has explained about her various experiences since primary education to degree course and religious influence she has gone through. She said in her letter that she was leaving on her own accord to study Islam and that she would return after completing her religious education. She also has invited her family to tread her path.
Police personnel said that by reading this letter, one can easily conclude that Athira has in-depth knowledge about Islam.
District superintendent of police, A G Simon, said that the missing complaint of the lady has been entrusted to Bekal police circle inspector and that information is being gathered with the help of items recovered from the lady's room. He added that effort to locate her whereabouts with the help of cellphone location is going on with the help of the cyber cell.
It is learnt that the lady's location showed as Volapattanam. Further information is yet to be gathered.
