Bengaluru, Jul 8: Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math has approached the state high court seeking to quash the order passed by the state chief secretary (CS), Subhash Chandra Khuntia, asking the commissioner in muzrai department to investigate allegations of irregularities levelled against the Swamiji. In the impugned order, the CS had said that the muzrai commissioner was free to form a committee of three to investigate the allegations.
The single judge bench of the high court presided by Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri, whch took up the petition filed by the Swamiji on Friday July 7, ordered serving of notices to chief secretary of Karnataka government, secretary and commissioner of muzrai department, and original petitioners, A K Jayakrishna and Edurkala Eshwar Bhat.
Edurkala Eshwar Bhat had filed public interest litigation in the high court in the past, demanding to unseat Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji from the position as head of Ramachandrapur Math. The high court had referred the matter to the CS, asking him to investigate the request and pass suitable orders.
The CS who looked into the matter, had asked muzrai commissioner to conduct early investigation, giving the latter freedom to form a committee of not less than three members to examine the charges and submit a report thereof, through an order passed on May 23, 2017. The Swamiji is seeking dismissal of this order.
