Mangaluru: Theft of cows - one held, two flee

Mangaluru, Jul 7: A gang of three had stolen two cows which were grazing near Bajpe check post and were taking the cattle towards Konchar when a police team led by Bajpe police inspector, T D Nagaraj, stopped them to make queries. During this period, two of the thieves succeeded in running away, while the other was chased by Bajpe police and nabbed.

The special police team was patrolling the area when they found the gang of thieves. The arrested person has been identified as Ramesh (34), residing at MSEZ Colony at Konchar.

Bajpe police inspector, T D Nagaraj, along with some personnel of the station was on his rounds near Konchar when he saw that three persons were leading two cows by foot towards Konchar by holding the ropes around the necks of animals. He questioned them out of suspicion at which all the three started to flee, leaving behind the cows. Bajpe police who gave the thieves a hot chase, succeeded in taking Ramesh into custody.

Ramesh confessed to the police that they were taking the two cows they had stolen from near Bajpe check post to Shantigudde.
