Kundapur, July 3: Farmer and APMC president K Sharath Kumar Shetty who has plans of developing the APMC yard in Kundapur, gave information about the repairs and up-gradation.

"A 'Raitha Bhavan' has been constructed to provide shelter, free of charge to farmers arriving from various places in the state every week on Fridays for the Saturday fair. A large TV worth Rs 1.4 lacs is installed to provide entertainment and information to farmers," informed Shetty.

"Pure drinking water also is made available. Toilets are repaired. The roof which was leaking in the rainy season, has been repaired. Concrete road is being constructed in stages. Security staff and drivers have been provided uniform. The commercial complex under construction will be handed over to the APMC soon," he stated.

"The rent of commercial godown and shops have been increased to augment revenue. Drainage facilities will be upgraded," said Shetty.

He also said that he has submitted an appeal to the minister of agriculture for construction of connecting roads through Vidhana Parishad member Pratap Chandra Shetty and MLA Gopala Poojary and is hoping to obtain approval for the same.

"Farmers have a false impression that APMC means fair. There are opportunities for the all round development of farmers here. The aim of the government will be fulfilled only when the facilities here are made use of completely by the farmers," concluded Shetty.
