Udupi, Jul 3: A youth who was driving a car lost his life after water accumulated on the road got splashed on the front windshield. The accident happened near Perdoor in the taluk on the night of Saturday July 1.

Guruprasad (30) was driving his car towards Padigar from the direction of Perdoor downtown when muddy water on the road got splashed onto his front windscreen when the car was moving through Jogibettu at around 11.30 pm. Blinded by the sudden wall of water, Guruprasad lost his sight after which he lost control over the vehicle. The car careened to a side of the road and came to a stop after hitting a tree.

While Guruprasad who had suffered critical injuries to his head and face died when being taken to hospital, the others in the car, identified as Santosh N Poojary, Bharat, and Raghavendra, survived with injuries. They have been admitted into hospital.

A case relating to his accident was filed in Hiriyadka police station.
