Udupi, Jun 30: Mohan Bhat, secretary of Sri Rama Sene, Mangaluru on Friday June 30 strongly condemned Muslims offering Namaz in the dining hall of Sri Krishna Math as part of the recent Iftar get-together hosted by the Math led by Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji and said that his outfit will hold a peaceful protest on July 2 in association with Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samiti.
Addressing a press meet here, Mohan Bhat said, "The protest will be held by offering puja and prayers to Lord Krishna's effigy. The puja will be performed seeking the blessings of Lord Krishna and praying that such incidents should never repeat in future in the Math premises.
"Our feelings are hurt only because of the fact that Namaz was offered in the Sri Krishna Math. If the Swamiji had conducted just a get-together instead of Iftar, we would have had no objection. Our symbolic protest will not damage the dignity of Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji," he said.
Mohan Bhat further clarified that the Sri Rama Sene does not want go against Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji and the manner of protest is left to the respective district SRS committee. "We have been brought up under his guidance since childhood. I have never generalized that all Muslims eat beef. But there are certain restrictions in the Hindu community. According to us, Hindus who eat beef are not fit to be Hindus.
"We have a good relationship with the Math. The protest meet is a symbolic one," Bhat added.
"Math polluted by Namaz, should be cleansed with cow urine"
Vijay Kumar, convenor of Hindu Jana Jagruthi said, "The Iftar Koota has hurt many Hindus. The dining room where Namaz was offered by Muslims and the premises have been polluted and become impure. The hall in which Namaz was offered should be cleaned using cow dung and cow urine. Moreover, Pejawar Swamiji should apologize to the Hindus for hurting our feelings.
"Hindu Jana Jagruthi samithi will support peaceful protest of Sri Rama Sene and will also hold a separate protest meet to condemn Iftar Koota. The protest venue is yet to be fixed and the leaders will take a collective decision," he added.
On Vivek Handemani, who allegedly insulted Pejawar Swamiji in social media being a member of a right-wing outfit, Mohan Bhat said, "If he is truly a member of any Hindu outfit, we will not allow him to continue his membership."
