Bengaluru, Jun 29: BJP's Karnataka state unit will be launching its 'Vistarak' programme on July 1. Under this plan, the party will fan off its workers to various places where they will be required to stay for 15 days and make an earnest effort to win over the confidence of the people towards making the party more deep-rooted and popular.
Final touches were given to this ambitious programme at the party meeting held here at the state headquarters of the party on Wednesday June 28. State BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa, stated that about 20,000 party workers will take part in this programme. They are expected to undertake ground work in 54,431 booths allover the state.
It is being claimed that similar strategy employed in Uttar Pradesh during the recent election had enabled the party to snatch power from Samajwadi Party. Yeddyurappa said that the party workers who are being assigned with specific areas will go there, stay for 15 days and work to strengthen party base. "The workers have been briefed to get in touch with common people, spread awareness about good deeds being done by our government at the centre by means of various innovative schemes. They will also make the people abreast of the wrongdoings of the state government besides meeting the local leaders," he explained.
Yeddyurappa utilized this opportunity to lash out at the state government for claiming the schemes funded by the central government as its own. "For example, 'Anna Bhagya' scheme under which rice is being provided to the poor is run out of monetary aid extended by the centre. The central government buys rice in the open market by paying Rs 32 per kg and is supplying it to the states at Rs 3 per kg," he cited and criticized the state for claiming total credit for this scheme, without anywhere mentioning that it is being run with the total support of the central government.
Former state president of BJP and MP, Prahlad Joshi, also came down heavily on the state government for failing to extend cooperation to the union government on implementing its ambitious 'Ujjwala' scheme of providing LPG connection to poor people free of cost.
