Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

A young girl from the city was walking from near a college here towards Balmatta when a youth who followed her closely in his Honda Activa two-wheeler, continued to stare at her. At the same time, he was repeatedly blaring his horn. Frustrated at this behaviour, the lady had taken the photograph of the scooter. On the basis of registration number of the vehicle, details of the owner were collected. Details of the incident was posted on Facebook by the lady with a warning to the Eve teaser.

The post was shared over a 1,000 times. Many have come in support of the lady for taking the initiative to teach a lesson to such people. The police who got to know about this incident, under the directions of the city police commissioner, have registered a Suo moto case in women's police station here. It is said that the police have already collected full details of the accused. The vehicle in question reportedly belongs to one Rizwan Ahmed.

These days the situation is such that girls cant go out without fear. In broad day light a girl was harassed and teased in the middle of busy road. I am glad that the girl has come forward an protested against it. I am sure the man must be punished so that such incidences does not occur in future. Its sad that even in a highly civilized society like Mangaluru a girl was harassed in the middle of the road. Strict action must be taken against the criminal. Such incidences should never occur.

Put him on 3 months community service like public toilet cleaning, road cleaning ,., etc.

Let others who are roaming around like him know the consequences.

    There should be examplaory action.

Shame to hear such incidents happening in mangalore

Same problem faced few days back at ullal....me & my daughter were going to home by car at 9 pm from the hospital one guy riding bike in the middle of the road and acting like busy with his mobile and not allow us to go. My daughter got angry and she over took the bike from left side and came. After few minutes he came with his gang (Chakka... he wants help from his gang to fight with ladies) and stopped his bike in front of our car in the night and asking us " Enu baree urgenta? I said ...yes urgent enu ninna problem? so he said.. dodda car untu antha show madabeda, ninna magalige swalpa buddi helu. By the time my daughter took his photo and his bike. so, One guy came & told him to remove the bike from the road. Finally he took his bike from the middle of the road. They have no manners to behave with ladies. Uncultured and manners less people. I request Police Department to give protection to ladies from this uncultured people.

Outrage is instantaneous, but truth sometimes takes time. Now that the police has filed a suo moto case, I hope we will know the truth soon. So far we have only girl's side of the story - flashed by the media. She might well be telling the truth on FB. After the false case of eve teasing in Rohtak Haryana - couple of years ago- which made a national sensation, I am less inclined to believe until all facts emerge. I am assuming that the road from Aloysius to Balmatta is a busy road with number of people walking and vehicles plying on the road. I am sure someone else might have also seen the episode that is claimed to be. I can't believe Mangaloreans are so fearful that they will pass and do nothing if such things are observed. I only wish the girl had reported the incident to police at Jyothi circle or reported the incident to women's police station before ranting it out on FB.

I dont support moral policing, but when these kind of incidents become more and more rampent and People who teach these eve teasers a lesson are branded as moral policing, rowdies. In recent times most of these incidents go unreported and these roadside romeos become more and more determined in their cause.
I am sure these will not be the end of it, because after their arrest every one of their kind will know how easy it is come out of the legal tangl with help of some politicians awith the backing of some religious leaders.

I wonder what makes some people suddenly turn to the defense of the eve teasing rouges? Name? May be..

Its easy to say things and for your kind information the Mangalore Police are not fools nor they are doing any publicity stunt . they took the incident into consideration after Having done the investigation. They could have ignored it as well keep that in mind.

Would the police have taken seriously if the girl had lodged the complaint personally ? I very much doubt if the cops would have even entertained the brave girl. Since the issue has been publicly summoned on social network, police had to take the early measures in the interest of every citizen, and I am sure that they might have smelled protest sometime. Need to wait and see what investigation shall be done and how will the accused be punished.

The brave girl is indeed a "brave heart" and it needs lot of guts to do the act. If all the girl take her as a role model, then I am sure that none shall even think of eve teasing.

I agree she did the right thing. We have to take into consideration certain clauses,
    1. Vehicle might be belonging to Rizwan but used by someone else.
    2. He might have been the one riding himself.
    3. He may have sold it and the said buyer might not have transferred it as yet.
    4. Might be stolen and number replaced to hoodwink the public.
Taking these into consideration accordingly action needs to be taken.
These days many vehicles are sold or bought either from within the state or from other states and vehicles are running without being transferred.
RTO must be very strict on this.
I myself have had an issue in the past with a small accident and the accused said he was using the vehicle for 5 years without transferring it from Orissa registration all because of tax.
    Hope justice will prevail.
The current Traffic Incharge is doing his best and we must rightfully support the Traffic department.

everything you wrote is like .. if .. could be... but according to me.. this gentleman named Rizwan Ahmed itself could be the culprit. Only thing he wouldn't have realized the consequence will turn out so huge. One more thing, if it's driven by some one else or his friend, then also he must be held responsible. Than listing out all these excuses, let's start targeting these evils and one day this will stop something called eve-tease. One more thing, if he is completely innocent and nowhere related to this, he should be having enough evidence to prove that.

    Dear Mario,
Do you work in police department or a lawyer? Police themselves registered case means full deatais they collected from RTO. If vehicle stollen then there must be a complaint before incident happen. Girl is brave but she not given complaint immediately. Police will check CCTV footage also from recording. If some one used your vehicle you will be responsible for any accident or incident. Truth already police and public know. Now need a good lesson to that person to keep our Mangalore city clean

Am just another citizen like you. But remember there are lots of cars with cases still roaming scot free. Some influential people still have their way. Do the police verify your chasis number and engine number when they stop you? Think...

Mario, transferring an outside state vehicle is not an easy job too! If u give the job to a broker, he will easily sit on it for couple of years, main reason being they are lethargic attitude plus you need original receipt of vehicle purchase invoice. Most often the original invoice is lost or misplaced after few years.

Today my friend everything is online. Just that people don't want to pay concerned state taxes. Some time back lots of high end segment cars where registered in PY to evade state taxes. Only a few people respect their state and register their cars in their concerned state. Very soon the crack down will start and then you will have a good laugh. Transferring a vehicle is easy. Get your paperwork in order before handing over to the RTO or agent. You can track it online.

    Itemized response to your comments.
    1) If driven by some others and do the crime, owner is held responsible to trace him and handover to the police.
    2) Then himself responsible
    3) If sold and not transferred, then first owner is fully responsible.
    4) IF stolen, owner shall report to the authority, till FIR registered, the owner still hold responsibility.
