Mangaluru, Jun 29: In connection with robbery and murder attempt cases which had happened within the limits of Suratkal police station in the recent past, the police have succeeded in arresting three accused.
The arrested accused happen to be Ummer Farooq Irfan (21), resident of Idgah Road in Katipalla second block, Azharuddin alias Ajju (23) from Krishnapura ninth block, and Saifuddin (23), who is from Krishnapura sixth block.
On March 26 this year, Jagannath Amin, who was working for a Nandini milk booth at Krishnapura owned by Niranjan, had been approached in the guise of buying a Lassi sachet. Allegedly, Jagannath was pushed aside and cash found in the booth was taken away by the miscreants. Again, on June 11, the accused had tried to rob money from labourers belonging to North India near Kuthethur. When a local resident named Dinkar Poojary questioned them, murder attempt on him was made by stabbing him with a knife. A case about this incident too was registered in Suratkal station. The police had got reliable information that both these crimes were committed by the same gang.
Two scooters and knife used in these cases as well as cash were recovered from the accused. The gang, it is learnt, also faces several cases in Bunder police station in the city and vehicle theft case filed in Padubidri police station.
Investigation is being conducted by police inspector of Suratkal, Cheluvaraju, under the guidance of city police commissioner, Suresh. The arrested accused were produced in court.
