Jun 28 (TOI): The ruling Shiv Sena in the BMC took potshots at the BJP over construction work for Metro-III project during the monsoon season.
On Tuesday, Yashwant Jadhav, Shiv Sena leader in the BMC, said that all digging work for the project must be stopped during the rains, though he clarified that the party was not demanding that all work stop.
Jadhav said while on one hand the BMC is expected to stop all road repair works in the city before monsoon, on the other, metro authorities have been freely digging in various parts of the city. "Rain water accumulates in these huge pits. What if someone were to fall in a pit? Who would be responsible for it?" asked Jadhav. The BMC is expected to shut all its road and trenching works before rains and can restart it in October once it withdraws.
