Bengaluru Jun 28: It is reliably learnt that state BJP leaders are requesting their New Delhi bosses to make Arun Jaitley, the state party in-charge at the soonest as Assembly elections are fast approaching.

The BJP leaders in the state do not want to take any chances. They are not ready to lose the next elections. Though they are openly saying that they would sweep the polls, they feel that only a shrewd game player can help to bring victory in the state.

Arun Jaitley who presently holds defence and finance portfolios is known to be a great strategist in BJP circles. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to come back from his foreign tour, local BJP leaders expect that he will give his nod soon for Arun Jaitley to be made state in-charge in the best interest of the party.

As Gujarat Assembly elections will be held by this yearend, Modi and BJP national chief Amit Shah will concentrate more on their home turf. If the state BJP waits till then, it will be too late to get a match winner party in-charge. So they want Arun Jaitley to start looking after the party affairs here at the soonest.

Chief Minster Siddaramaiah recently said that Assembly elections will be held either in April or May in 2018.
