Bantwal, Jun 27: When district in-charge minister Ramanatha Rai went to visit the house of murdered Social Democratic Party of India's (SDPI) Ammunje unit president Ashraf Kalayi’s house at Benjanapadavu on Monday June 26, the youth from the village protested in a unique way by showing their backs to the minister without saying anything.
Some youth said that the accused involved in the murder are the associates of Congress leaders and some of them are the children of these associates. “These people are members of Hindu organizations and are acting against minorities. Some Congress leaders are good friends with these people. Some are even their business partners,” they complained.
Ashraf Kalayi was hacked to death at Benjanapadavu by motor-bike born assailants on June 21. Following the murder, tension had prevailed at various places in Bantwal and police had clamped Section 144 in the entire district which will end today. Police have made six arrests so far including one prime accused.
The youth even objected to the clicking of photos at Ashraf Kalayi’s house when Rai visited there. Local Congress leaders accompanied Rai.
