Mangaluru, Jun 26: Heavy rains have made the rivers swell in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district on Sunday, Jun 25.
In Dakshina Kannada district, Bantwal taluk received 91.3 mm rainfall followed by Belthangady 75.9 mm, Puttur 68 mm, Mangaluru 50.4 mm and Sullia 36 mm.
Water levels in all the rivers in Dakshina Kannada- Phalguni, Kumaradhara and Nethravati - have gone up.
A man named Avinash Madoor (28) suffered injuries when a tree fell on him while he was riding his bike on Beeri-Deralakatte Road on Sunday.
Udupi district also saw heavy rains throughout Sunday. All the rivers in the district also witnessed increased water flow.
In Sasthan, more than 10 houses were flooded because of heavy rains. One household lost all the grocery items in the floods while others could shift them on time. But all these houses have been damaged.
Most of these flooded houses belonged to Muslim community. They could not celebrate their Eid feast as they were busy in protecting their houses from further damage.
