Bengaluru: Governor accepts home minister Parameshwara's resignation from ministry

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 25: Karnataka governor, Vajubhai Vala, has accepted the resignation tendered by home minister, Dr G Parameshwara, to his position as home minister. The resignation was approved on Saturday June 24.

Chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah, had forwarded the resignation letter submitted by Parameshwara to the governor on Friday with recommendation to accept it. With the acceptance of resignation, the chief minister now will have additional responsibility of home portfolio.

After he was made president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) for another term, Parameshwara had handed over his resignation letter to the CM on June 1 as per the wishes of the national leadership of the party. Siddaramaiah had not forwarded this letter to the governor, and asked Parameshwara to continue as home minister till the monsoon session of the legislature came to an end. The monsoon session of assembly came to an end on June 21.

Perhaps frustrated at the fact that his letter was not sent to the governor, Parameshwara, on Friday June 23, used the car of KPCC instead of the official car of the government, at the end of a programme held at KPCC office held on Friday. The CM forwarded the resignation letter to governor the same evening.
