Mangaluru, Jun 24: Muslims across the coastal region of Karnataka will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday June 25.
Eid was declared after the crescent moon was sighted in Bhatkal on Saturday night.
Dakshina Kannada Qazi Twaka Ahmed Musliyar and Udupi Qazi Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal announced that Eid would be celebrated in the respective districts on Sunday.
The end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims across the world fast from dawn to sunset, culminates with the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
Parts of Gulf will also celebrate Eid along with coastal Karnataka. Other parts of India will celebrate a day later.
On account of Eid, the city police commissionerate has issued a circular regarding arrangements for the mass prayer to be held at Idgah on Light House Hill. Traffic will be diverted to avoid congestion till the prayer is over.
