Mangaluru, June 23: An attempt to rob Kotekar agriculture service cooperative bank took place in their K C Road branch on Friday afternoon, June 23.
The culprits, who knew that being Friday, some staff will be going to the mosque for prayers, came on a bike to rob the bank. When they entered the bank, only 3 staff members were in the bank. They brandished a knife to the staff, pushed them in a toilet and latched the door from outside.
Then the culprits filled the gold ornaments from the locker into the sack. By that time, the staff somehow broke the toilet door and came out when the robbers were about to flee with the booty on the bike.
The staff threw a large stone on the chest of one of the robbers who was a rider. The robbers tried again to flee with the gold when another staff of the bank hurled a large stone at the robber who was sitting pillion. The robbers, who got scared, fled leaving the sack of gold ornaments behind.
ACP Shruthi, Ullal station police inspector Gopikrishna and police team visited the place and started investigation.
