Mangaluru, Jun 23: Deputy commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha inaugurated civil service and competitive exam coaching programme here at St Aloysius College organised by the Department of Political science on Thursday, June 22.

Addressing the gathering Dr K G Jagadeesha said, "Civil service is one field of work where you can bring difference to the society. This field offers you a platform to bring changes. If you are dedicated, this is the right field for you. Do not opt this field due to pressure from parents or others. You should work hard for two years with complete commitment. Two years are sufficient to prepare for civil service exams."

"Civil service is a life long struggle. You should have passion towards it. If you are not interested and doing it due to pressure, you can succeed only up to some level. Civil service aspirants should have a good sense of judgement. You need to be passionate if you want to be a good officer. Give your 100 per cent and never worry about failure," he added.

Zilla Panchayath CEO Dr M R Ravi said, "I congratulate the college for taking up this initiative. This is one of the challenging, attractive and powerful professions. You need to opt this field on your own interest. If you join the service, then you must have clean thoughts and conscious. If you run after money and power, you will end up being bad officers. Your hard work and dedication will surely pay off."

Principal of St Aloysius College Dr Praveen Martis S J said that he was very delighted to start the civil service coaching at the college. "Starting civil service coaching here is a dream come true. I am very grateful to rector Fr Dionysius Vas and Dr Rose Veera D Souza. Many students queries about civil service coaching inspired me to start this initiative. Being an educated district, we hardly see people enter this field. We have to guide and direct students to bring changes in the society," he said.
