Kundapur: Notification board torn, Ambedkar's photo defaced - complaint filed

Kundapur, Jun 22: In an incident which happened at a government site at Uppunda village near Byndoor in the taluk, a public notification erected there was torn off, resulting in defacing of Dr B R Ambedkar's photo.

After the gram panchayat passed a resolution to allot a site in government-owned land for construction of Ambedkar Bhavan at Uppunda, Dalit Sangharsh Samiti had put up a notice on the site with permission from the gram panchayat on May 5.

At around 6.30 pm on June 18, it is said that Rajeev Bhat from Nandanavana village tore off the publication containing Ambedkhar's photo, resulting in the defacement of the photo. Nagaraj, a resident of Fisheries Colony at Uppunda, filed a complaint about this incident at Byndoor polcie station.

A case stands registered about this incident, and investigation has been taken up.
