Udupi: Father has important role in progress of family – Bishop Gerald Lobo

Udupi, June 20: "A father plays an important role in the all round development of the family," said bishop of Udupi diocese Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo.

Presiding over the Father's Day celebrations held by Udupi diocese family service commission at Kannarpadi, Kinnimulki on Sunday, June 18, he said, "The love of a father in each family is invaluable. A father plays a unique and important role in the family. He struggles day and night for his children and the progress of the family. He is a responsible person who works for the all round development of the members of the family. Therefore, nobody can neglect the part of a father in the family."


    


































































































Retired principal, Prof Alban Rodrigues spoke about the role of father, his position and responsibilities. Udupi diocese Msgr Baptist Menezes explained the part that needs to be played by a father in the family.

Udupi diocese pastoral council secretary Alponse D'Costa shared his experience as a father, teacher and leader in social and religious sectors. He said that nothing came in between him when he took up the leadership role and he got help from his wife and children.

President of India award winner retired teacher George Castelino Nakre, Udupi diocese chief priest Fr Valerian Mendonca, diocese small Catholic community director Fr Herald Pereira, and family service commission spiritual director Fr Chetan Lobo were present.

As many as 550 dads of Udupi diocese participated. Diocese family service commission director Leslie Aroza compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
