Bengaluru: Woman catches robber after chase, drags him to police station

Daijiworld Media Network-Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Jun 16: A woman chased a robber, caught him with the help of public and then also dragged him to the police station here on Thursday. This will help the police to bust a gang of underage robbers, a senior police officer said.

Savithri (35) from Jalahalli, was about to board a bus at Hebbal when a young man snatched her phone and purse, and started running away. She gave a chase and during this time, the robber handed over the stolen items to an accomplice who fled in a different direction. Savithri, without losing focus, kept chasing the young robber and managed to catch him with the help of onlookers.

The robber was thrashed by the public subsequently. But before the situation could get out of hand, an onlooker offered to take Savithri and the youth to the police station. Police, after interrogating the suspect, leaned that he was only 15 years old.

However the police got some phone numbers from him and launched an investigation into a gang of juveniles which has been robbing people during the rush hours at bus stops on the stretch between Hebbal and Kodigehalli on Ballari Road.

Juveniles can get back to business after just three or four days once they are caught, said a police officer.

Hats off to Savithri who caught that idiot robber. The public should have broken the limbs of the robber and then handed over to the police.

Will breaking limbs of a teenager solve the purpose. Most of such small robbers, beggars are ruled by kingpins who use children in their racket and take the money earned by them especially child beggars. while these children get caught and beaten the kingpins who are lazy and do not want to work are safe and bring more children to the racket. hence govt, cops and citizens need to see root cause of the problem. in case of child begging never give money to child beggars and infants in arms of women they may be kidnapped or just given birth for racket purpose. As far as possible try to rehabilitate the kids. Please spread this information to every Indian rich poor all.

Hats off to this Savithri for her presence of mind & being able to catch the culprit with the public help.
They should not be left off easily by the police just because they are underage by law.
This will encourage them to continue with such crimes.
